gummysearch is closed. what to use for audience research now.

GummySearch stopped taking new accounts on 30 November 2025. Paying users keep it until their last billing period ends, 30 November 2026 at the latest. Its maker gave one reason: Reddit’s API policies forbid commercial apps.
What to use next depends on what you used it for. Alerts and leads have plenty of replacements. Hearing how your buyers talk about their problems has very few.
Run it on your own site during the beta, or read a full report first.

which part of gummysearch do you need to replace?
GummySearch called itself audience research for Reddit. People used it for four different jobs, and each one now has a different answer.
| You used it to | Use now | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Get an email when a word shows up on Reddit | F5Bot (free), or a paid monitoring tool such as Syften | Alerts only. You still read every thread yourself. |
| Find people asking for a product like yours | A Reddit lead tool | Most pages that rank for “gummysearch alternative” sell this job. |
| Find the subreddits your audience reads | Reddit’s own search, then the top threads by hand | Slow and free. Good for one niche, hard across several. |
| Learn what your buyers struggle with, in their words | Unprompted, if you sell B2B | One report per run, every quote linked to where it was said. |
why most alternatives skip the research job.
Search for a GummySearch alternative and nearly every result is a lead tool. Those tools score posts by buying intent and help you reply, which helps sales this week.
It does not tell you why a buyer hesitates, which words they use for the problem, or which question your website leaves open. Those answers decide what goes on your pricing page, which objection your sales deck handles first, and which article you write next.
how unprompted does the research job.
The full method, with the rules every report keeps, is on how a run works.
- You give it your website. It reads the site and says who buys from you. You correct it if it is wrong.
- It reads where those buyers talk when nobody sells to them: forums, communities, review sites and complaint rulings. Reddit is one of them.
- It keeps a line only if it can link to where it was said.
- It groups what is left into Moments: one situation each, in the buyers’ words.
- It checks your site against each Moment and says what to make.
what a run found on one real business.
In the sample run on brightpensioen.nl, a pension account for self-employed people in the Netherlands, one buyer ruled the product out over a rumour about “dividend leakage”. Another had only seen the rumour on Reddit and could not find it confirmed anywhere else.
“Als ZZP'er wil ik binnenkort starten met pensioenbeleggen […] Voelt toch als een 'grote' keuze. Voorkeur gaat nu uit naar BND of Meesman, Bright valt af ivm dividendlekkage.”In English: As a self-employed person I want to start pension investing soon. It does feel like a big choice. My preference is now BND or Meesman; Bright drops out because of dividend leakage.
“het dividendlek (dit lees ik vooral op deze reddit, ik kan het verder nergens terugvinden)”In English: the dividend leak (I mostly read about it on this subreddit, I cannot find it anywhere else)

One post sat on Tweakers, a Dutch tech forum outside Reddit. The answer sat on the site itself: one FAQ page about the rumour, with nothing linking to it. The run said what to make: answer the rumour where it is repeated, and link the FAQ.
what unprompted does not do.
- No alerts. A run is a report, not a monitor.
- No lead lists and no replies. It never tells you whom to message.
- No subreddit browser.
- B2B only during the beta. Shops and consumer brands are turned away.
- If your buyers do not talk in public, the run stops and shows every place it looked.
- Some buyers stay out of reach. The sample run found nothing for its second buyer group, the bookkeepers: no accountancy community it could read was reachable, and the report says so.
questions.
- When does GummySearch shut down for good?
- New accounts closed on 30 November 2025. Paying subscribers keep access until the end of their billing period, one year at most, and lifetime-deal holders until 30 November 2026. Free accounts can still export or delete their data.
- Why did GummySearch close?
- Its maker wrote that it closed to comply with Reddit’s API policies, which forbid commercial applications.
- Is there a free GummySearch alternative?
- For keyword alerts on Reddit and Hacker News, F5Bot is free. Unprompted costs nothing during the beta: I invite testers by hand and ask for feedback on what the report found.
- Does Unprompted read Reddit?
- Reddit threads appear in reports next to forums, review sites and complaint rulings, and every quote links to the thread it came from.
- How long does a run take?
- Usually under an hour. I email you when the report is ready.
try it on your own site.
Give me one website. I will find what its buyers said.
